12. Deans Bank and Lake Hawea

A very cool and cloudy morning quicky turned into perfect riding weather and on the agenda today was Lake Hawea return with Deans Bank thrown in along the way

On the way down to the morning muster in town Andrew and I visited "The Tree" in the Lake and it did not disappoint in the morning light

After grabbing our morning coffees and snacks we biked along the lakes edge through to the Outlet Track on the bank of the Clutha River

We arrived at Deans Bank in short order and headed off for a quick spin around this fantastic 10km cross country loop. This beautifully made track is well maintained and well worth the ride
The track starts with perfect switchbacks that makes getting up onto the bank a pleasure
Some jumps practice

Back down off the bank
After Deans Bank we continued along the Clutha River and onto the Hawea River
We stopped to watch kayakers playing in the waves, some serious skill on display here

Lake Hawea

Time to sit down for a fabulous lunch at Sails in the township of Hawea

Heading for home

A few of us took a detour on the way home via the Hikuwai Loop for some more jumps practice and then into the Sticky Forest again

The Tourers seem to be suffering from NMM (Nightly Meeting Madness)
